Oscar Miller

Oscar Miller Born April 19, 1922 in Isabelle, South Dakota to John J. and Barbara Miller. His early years were spent in farming. He worked as a young man in the Civilian Conservation Corp, and then was drafted into the army. He served through out World War II as a reconnaissance tank radioman, gunner and German Interpreter, seeing action at Normandy, The Battle of the Bulge and Czechoslovakia, earning 5 Bronze Star awards. Upon his discharge from the army, he returned to farming in McLaughlin, South Dakota. He married Imogene Wright and together, they moved to take up farming in Versailles, Missouri. Upon leaving farming, he took up bakery route sales in Sedalia, Missouri. Health considerations for Imogene prompted a move to Denver, CO, where he became the operator of a drain cleaning business for 32 years until his retirement. Following retirement, he continued to work part-time another 14 years as an advertising searchlight operator. He passed away August 27, 2015 with burial at Ft. Logan Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Theodore, and sisters Hildegard Schultz and Ernestine Slater. His wife Imogene, and his sister, Elsie Schultz, survives him, along with children, Rodney Miller, Jonathan Miller, Chester Miller and Linda Montez, and grandchildren, Gregory Miller, Elyse Nelson, and Alexander Miller.
