Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Norma Husky announces her death on April 8, 2017. She was born on February 6, 1931 in Galesburg, Illinois, daughter of Hazel and Hubert Simmons. She came to Denver in 1937. While in high school, Norma met Jim Husky and they married in 1951. She lived a good, long life before she died peacefully from complications of COPD.

Norma was a devoted wife and mother to seven children. She kept a happy home in southwest Denver. For several years, Norma also worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for her husband's company, General Sound. As the children grew older, Norma took a job with the State of Colorado, Purchasing Department. She quickly was promoted from Clerk/Typist to eventually land the highest rank of purchasing agent for the State. She was voted, "Employee of the Year" in 1986. Throughout the years, Norma was a terrific friend and neighbor to many. She was a gourmet cook who loved to entertain. She also enjoyed reading, crafts and puzzles.

She is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her husband of 56 years, Jim, her sons Mike and Greg and her daughter Julie who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Shelly (Mike) Gantenbein of Arvada, CO; Dave (Ann) Husky of Golden, CO; Patty (Jerry) Pratt of Centennial, CO; and Paul (Tammy) Husky of Morrison, CO. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren Marc, Megan, Jamie, Jessie, Todd, Chris, Dawn, Kim, Kelly, Greg, Jessie, Brian, Caitlin, Patrick, Shannon, Tara, Kris, Krystal and 23 great-grandchildren Hannah, Cameron, Ryan, Isabella, Annabelle, Xander, Autumn, Grace, Myah, Allie, Emma, Jordain, Reese, Rowan, Sean, Cody, Cash, Maggie, LeeRoy, Amber, Bryelle, Maddox, Witton, and Kai.
