Norm Venard

November 19, 1932 — August 4, 2017

Norm, 84, of Arvada, Colorado passed away August 4, 2017. Norm was born November 19, 1932 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Arthur & Irene Venard. The family moved to Englewood, Colorado in 1944 and he graduated from Englewood High School in June, 1950. Norm served in the United States Navy from 1951-1953 during the Korean War on the Battleship USS Iowa. Afterwards, he returned to Englewood, Colorado, where he married LaVon Stephens in August, 1954. Together, they had three children and raised their families in Littleton and Westminster, Colorado. Norm's career included jobs in construction, sales and as a Master Electrician. He was a member of the Edgewater Masonic Lodge of which he was Master in 1967. After retiring in 1992, Norm enjoyed spending time volunteering for the U.S. Olympic Committee, traveling and woodworking. His passion for woodworking resulted in many cherished furniture pieces for family members, along with fun and challenging brain teasers and puzzles. Additionally, Norm’s life story and events with family and friends can be seen and remembered through his photography. Beginning in his late teens, he photographed important occasions, family gatherings, world travels, and life celebrations. His pictures, slides and movies, tell a tale of the past seven decades. He redeveloped and formatted these photos to be viewed and cherished present day. As a result of his tremendous interest and diligence in this pursuit, all who remain can celebrate a life of special caring, provision, and love. Norm is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, LaVon; devoted children, Terry (Janet) Venard, Randy (Becky) Venard and Tamme (Eric) Venard; the shining light of his life, granddaughter, Anna; and brothers, Gerry (Jean) Venard and Lanny (Luella) Venard. Norm loved his children and granddaughter very much and respected them all for their ethics and individual accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alicia and Daisy Lou. Norm requested cremation and no services be held. In Norm's memory, memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
