Mick McGeady

August 12, 1953 — March 10, 2017

Mick McGeady, 63, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017. Mick is survived by his wife, MaryAnn McGeady, his three children, Ryan McGeady, James McGeady, and Mackenzie McGeady and his sisters Kathy Musso and Patti Daley. Mick graduated from Patchogue High School and Stony Brook University. Mick played high school and college soccer and softball on the Hess softball team, just passing the time until he met MaryAnn in the summer of 1977 at the Gold Crest Lounge in Patchogue, New York. In 1979 Mick and MaryAnn headed to California where Mick sold stereos and delivered Coca-Cola to the rich and famous in Hollywood. After spending three years in Southern California and marrying in 1981 they moved to Colorado to enjoy camping, hiking, biking, and skiing. In 1986 Ryan was born and eleven months later in 1987 Jimmy was born. Mick wanted his children to experience the best of Colorado and so moved his family to Ken Caryl Valley and devoted the next 20 years of his life as a stay at home Dad raising Ryan, Jimmy and Mackenzie, who was born in 1992. For his children Mick was a soccer coach, t-ball coach, wrestling coach, ski instructor, basketball coach, life coach, motivator, chef, and chauffeur. In between wrestling and soccer tournaments Mick took his family camping, hiking and skiing in Colorado and snorkeling in Hawaii and Mexico. As the children he raised so well began to leave the nest Mick studied at the National Personal Training Institute and graduated first in his class. He incorporated as MickFitness, LLC and went to Club USA to work as a personal trainer. Mick enjoyed the people and his position at Club USA and continued his work as a life coach and motivator to his clients and co-workers. Mick and MaryAnn celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary with their children on March 9, 2017, almost 40 years after their very first date. Mick was a man of great integrity, commitment, honor, humor, and patience; perfect husband material. Mick and MaryAnn grew up together loving each other and the life they had made. With MaryAnn came a large, extended family that Mick openly embraced. Mick was extremely passionate about everything he did from teaching, to coaching, to supporting and loving. He would humbly describe himself as a simple man but all who knew him could attest to the impact he had on them and those around them. Mick's legacy of caring and love will live on through his wife, children, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mick will be greatly missed. A celebration of Mick's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, in the chapel at West Bowles Community Church, 12325 West Bowles Ave, Littleton, Colorado 80127, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mick's memory online towards the ChristAid Academy Preschool construction project at www.christaidinc.org in the donations tab or by sending a check made out to ChristAid and mailed to MaryAnn McGeady, c/o McGeady Becher P.C., 450 East 17th Ave. Suite 400 Denver Colorado 80203.
