Merwyn Arthur Rewinkel, Jr. âArtâ died at the age of 75 on Monday, June 11, 2018 at his home in Winter Park, Colorado. Art Rewinkel was born in Denver, Colorado on January 18, 1943. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Inge Rewinkel, and two daughters Stacey (Karl) Frank of Greenwood Village, Colorado and Valerie (David) Barton of Saline, Michigan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Morgan and Henry Frank and William Barton. Surviving immediate family include his siblings Paul Rewinkel, Joyce Record, Mary Kirby, and John Rewinkel and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merwyn and Joan (Evans) Rewinkel, and his sister, Joan Goldsmith. Art grew up in Lakewood, Colorado and graduated from Lutheran High School. He completed a successful career as a submariner for the US Navy and earned a BS in Accounting from Colorado State University. Art married the love of his life, Inge, on August 6, 1966. They worked together throughout their marriage and founded A & I Financial Services in 1986. After his retirement in 2008, Art pursued new experiences. He learned to fly an airplane, captained a boat, and hand-built a guitar, which he loved to play. Art will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend to many. An avid skier and mountaineer, Art loved to ski with the Ski Meisters of Winter Park. His passion for skiing was infectious and he inspired his friends, children, and grandchildren to pursue the sport. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19 at 2:00 pm at Horan and McConaty Funeral home located at 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014.
