Merrill Hudson

Merrill Hudson, 94, of Denver, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4. Mel was born March 22, 1923, to Bruce and Edith Hudson, in Detroit, Mich. He served as an aircraft mechanic in World War II and attended the University of Michigan. He later moved to Colorado where he met his future wife, Nan Fiftal. They were married on September 8, 1951, and settled in Denver. Mel worked as a computer programmer for Martin Marietta and retired from the State of Colorado Department of Education. He loved to hike and work in the garden, and was an avid runner. In his later years, he enjoyed his weekly bridge group and tinkering on the piano and violin. Survivors include sons John Hudson (wife Patty) of Sussex, Wis., and Arthur Hudson (wife Sherrill) of Westminster, CO; daughter, Amy Hudson (husband Scott Deming) of Denver; and seven grandchildren: Chris (Stephanie) Hudson, Angela MacGowan (Richard), Bryan Hudson, Nicole Hudson, Ian Mathis-Deming, Helen Deming and Calvin Deming; and one great granddaughter, Madison Hudson. He was preceded in death by his wife Nan and grandson Cooper Deming. A committal service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, January 19, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80285. (Please arrive at Staging Area “A” by 9:45 am). A map containing directions and instructions are located in the photo section in Merrill's obituary.
