Matthew Antonio

World War II veteran, Matthew Antonio, passed away February 6 at the age of 93. Matt was born in Pekin, Illinois August 13, 1923 to Christ and Gramatiki Antonio. Matt was Captain in the Army Air Corp, serving as a navigator on the B-24. He attended the University of Illinois, receiving his Masters degree in Journalism. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Edith (Ripper) Antonio. He went to work in 1953 for Texaco, Inc. as controller, retiring in 1992. Matt loved spending time outdoors fishing, camping, and skiing! Matt is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edith, brother Johnnie, twin brother Gus, and set-daughter Joan. Matt is survived by his sons Gary (Sandi) Wrhel of Story, Wy and Garret (Beverly) Wrhel of West Peoria, Illinois; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Matt was a supporter of the Dumb Friends League. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt's honor to an animal shelter of your choice. Please sign the guestbook below
