Matthew Brier Byrd, 24, of Littleton Colorado passed away September 18, 2017. Matt was born at 9:20 a.m. November 27, 1992 at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver Colorado. He grew up in Aurora and Littleton Colorado and graduated from Chatfield Senior High School in 2011. He began working for TByrd, Inc. as a Field Technician in June 2008, alongside his Dad. Matt was a Class 1 Distribution Operator and Certified Water Professional (CWP) recognized by the State of Colorado Water and Wastewater Facility Operators Certification Board. Matt is survived by his parents Eric Byrd and Terri Karash Byrd, brother Brian Byrd, and sister Haley Byrd; Maternal grandparents Barbara Karash and the late Jerald Karash of Cheyenne, WY, and Jerry and Vicki Cohen of Gainesville, FL; paternal grandparents Margaret Byrd and the late Cecil Byrd of Cheyenne, WY, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins across the country. A Celebration of Life will be held for Matt on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80227. A lunch reception will follow services at the Horan & McConaty Reception Hall at the same location. In lieu of flowers, Matt would ask that you please honor him with donations in his name to BikerDown.org, or by mail to Biker Down Foundation, Community First Foundation, 5855 Wadsworth Bypass, Unit A, Arvada, Colorado 80033, or to any state park preservation society of your choice. BikerDown.org is a 501c3 non profit that helps injured motorcycle riders in Colorado with the recovery stages of their injuries. They assist the families in managing their recovery and keeping current on their household needs, provide medical equipment and other services based on the individuals needs. BikerDown has a network of additional non profits nationwide to assist riders in other states. Matt had an unforgettable smile, worth a million words, that he gladly shared with everyone. He was loyal to his family and friends, a lover of motorcycles and fast cars, camping, hiking, and everything to do with the great outdoors.
