Marguerite Wolfe

Maya Angelou wrote,""…people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."" This will be forever true about Marguerite Wolfe. Whether it was a newcomer or an old friend at church, one of her best friends or one of her daughters' friends, her grandchildren or one of the many Wolfe and Udry family members, she made us all feel welcome, accepted, and loved. Every picture of Marguerite shows off her smile. As the youngest growing up, with older sister Anna Mae and older brother Ed, she shines with just a hint of sassiness in family photos. She is quite stunning as a Delta Gamma at DU and a glamorous flight attendant for United Airlines. In photos of her traveling in Europe or skiing the Rocky Mountains, she's carefree and loving life. Some of the best are the black and white wedding photographs from August 8, 1959, when she said, ""I do"" to Bill. Her smile serene, her eyes full of love, you can tell she meant to make it last. And it did; 57 years long. The home she made for her husband and three daughters was her crowning achievement. It was a home full of her kind, gentle, forgiving way of being. She encouraged us to be whatever we wanted to be and loved us no matter what path we chose. When grandchildren came along, her wisdom and compassion was freely given and her pride in them freely expressed. Marguerite was the ultimate hostess. She made 6128 Union Street a warm and beautiful gathering place. She loved having people over, cooking a delicious meal, and visiting quietly with each and every one who came to the party. Many a holiday celebration, birthday, anniversary and bridal shower were made that much more special, having been hosted by the gracious Marguerite. Her reach extended beyond home. Other married couples came to know her patience and understanding in couples' counseling, young people who met her through Teens Encounter Christ learned from her quiet service in action, those who were struggling to make ends meet found her helping hand through SHARE a low-cost grocery program. It didn't matter how you knew her, she made you feel special, important, valued. The lasting legacy that is Marguerite Wolfe is carried on through her husband Bill, her daughters, Karen and husband Tim, Kristine and Michele and husband Cesar, her grandchildren, Sean, Emily, Richard, Rebecca, Caleb and Joshua, and her sister Anna Mae. We remember her unconditional love, the shared laughter and joy, knowing she is with us always.
