Madisen Wright

April 9, 1992 — July 18, 2013

Madisen Wright, 21, treasured daughter of Erin and Stuart and beloved sister of Maureen, Emily, and Philip has joined our Savior Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of Heaven. She leaves behind a multitude of mourning Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents, friends, neighbors, and pets. Although Maddie's life was short – as was her physical stature – she had already touched many lives and had lofty goals. Madisen was born and raised in Colorado. After completing high school, she attended the Community College of Denver studying criminal justice. After a year, however, she realized her calling could be better achieved with a degree in psychology. Her goal was to help troubled teens as a youth counselor, and she was determined to attain that goal. Maddie was already registered for a full load of classes this coming fall semester. Madisen was equally proud of her first ""real"" job as a cashier at Kohl's department store. Oh sure, she previously had a variety of other jobs: babysitting, pet-sitting, and mowing lawns, but her paycheck from Kohl's was more. She applied for it, she interviewed for it, and she earned it. Even as a little girl, she was willing to tackle big obstacles. During the summer following sixth grade, she and her family hiked to the Wheeler Geologic Area one fine summer day. The round trip distance was 16 miles. As Maureen described the experience in a college essay, ""my dad didn't think we could make it"". But make it they did. That little girl could hike. She could also ride a horse and dance with her daddy and shoot a gun and throw a football and swim like a ""Wahoo"" and hit a ""homerun"" while playing apple baseball in the backyard, and catch a salmon and climb the basketball support pole like a monkey and play the violin and play the piano and sing like an angel just like her Mama and her sisters. But more than that, she had her mother's kind heart and loving spirit. Her love and her kisses were given to all animals. That means not just puppies and kittens, but baby birds and caterpillars and night crawlers. If it was vulnerable and cute, Maddie had a kiss for it. Overall, I think Madisen was happiest at 'the cabin'. It didn't matter if there was a big crowd for ""Friends Weekend"" or for the Fourth of July with all of her out-of-state cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, or if it was just her Mama, her Daddy, her Momo, her Emmie and her puppies. She loved it all the same, and I'm thankful we had five glorious, carefree days at the cabin just a few weeks ago. With a girl like this, I could go on and on, but it's time to come to a closing. All that's left now is how much we'll miss her until that day that we are reunited in heaven. Our thanks to the scores of people who have helped us cope. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 8817 South Broadway, Littleton, CO 80129.
