Joseph Lee Lackey, 55, of Wheat Ridge, CO passed away suddenly at home on September 30, 2014. Joe was the youngest of six children born on November 5, 1958 in Lamar, CO to Virgil McGarvin and Norma Christine (Bradburn) Lackey. Growing up Joe was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and was in the Sea Cadets at Borah High School in Boise ID. Joe enlisted into the US Navy, where he served on the USS Sampson. His title was Fire Control Technician operating radar and firing missiles. Joe was also on the SARS (Search and Rescue Squad) team. Joe served our country for 6 years. He loved Colorado; enjoying camping, fishing, rafting and sailing. He was an avid Broncos fan! Joe enjoyed a wide variety of interests; playing golf, studying astrology, working with his hands, horticulture and tinkering with electronics. Joe was a good father raising his son, Virgil Lee and daughter, Trista Ann. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, Adriana and Sara. He was a thoughtful son, a good brother, a loved father and cherished grandfather. He enjoyed the family reunions where he played horseshoes with various family members. Joe was respected by co-workers and displayed knowledge in each field he worked in. He worked at AT&T, as well as held jobs as a stonework technician, electrician, in construction remodeling and most recently for Horizon Coachline. Joe is survived by his son, Virgil, daughter, Trista and two granddaughters, Adriana and Sara of Denver, CO. His siblings Norma Jean Coen of Elkhart, KS, Jesse (Charla) Lackey of LaGuna Hills, CA, James (Sharon) Lackey of Elburn, IL, John (Colleen) Lackey of Hudson, CO, numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil McGarvin and Norma Christine (Bradburn) Lackey and brother, Virgil Jay Lackey.
