Jack was then stationed in Baumholder, Germany until June 1965. On June 17, 1965, at Ft. Hamilton, New York, Jack was honorably discharged.

Upon completion of his military service, Jack moved to Denver, where he met his wife, Sheila. Together they raised their two sons. He worked for the phone company back when it was known as "Ma Bell." After 41 years of work, Jack retired on October 2, 2012.
