Howard Tanner

Howard Maurice Tanner, 83, passed from this life into life eternal on September 27, 2016. He passes on a legacy of commitment and love for God, family and friends. Howard was born on February 14, 1933 in Denver, Colorado, to Elmer Maurice and Florence (Henry) Tanner. He grew up in Wheat Ridge with his brother John. His brother Michael was born a month after he married Beverlee Pister Tanner. The two enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Together, they had three children, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Howard was a Project Engineer at Exxon for more than 29 years; and during that time the family made their homes in Japan, Norway, Italy, and England. Howard enjoyed reading, fishing, and fixing things, but especially spending time with his family. Howard is survived by his beloved wife Beverlee, son Gerald Maurice Tanner and his wife Pam Smith, daughter Cynthia Louise Martin and husband Phil Martin, grandchildren Jennifer Tanner Montez, Ian Tanner, Laura Ann Martin, and Richard Martin, and great-grandson Jack Montez. Howard is also survived by his brother Michael Tanner (Pam), and many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his son Dennis Eugene Tanner and by his brother John Norman Tanner. There will be a viewing and a receiving of friends on Thursday, October 6, between 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122, followed by a rosary at 7:00pm. On Friday, October 7th, an additional viewing will be held at 2pm at Pax Christi Catholic church in Lone Tree, CO, followed by Celebration of Life Catholic Mass at 3pm. A reception will follow immediately at the church. Pax Christi Church is located at 5761 McArthur Ranch Road, Lone Tree, CO 80124. Donations to the Macular Degeneration Society or heart research organization of your choice are appreciated.
