Henry Esquibel

August 25, 1943 — October 2, 2016

Henry Esquibel, 73, of Arvada, Colorado passed away, Sunday October 2, 2016 in the beautiful Colorado Mountains hunting trophy bull elk with his two sons. He was pursuing a dream that started 25 years ago, and had just been possible when he drew the tag this year. Henry was born August 25, 1943 in Wagon Mound, New Mexico to Cipriano and Isabel (Paiz) Esquibel. He graduated from Rocky ford High School and then attended Otero Junior college. He graduated from University of New Mexico with a Computer Science degree. He then became a Kennedy Fellow and attended the University of Denver for his Masters of Business Administration. On August 25, 1972 he married Barbara Jean Ross in Las Vegas, Nevada at an Elvis themed chapel. Henry spent his professional life as a salesman, including nearly 20 years with Xerox Corporation where he often led the region and was awarded president's club numerous times. Other parts of his career included working as a general manager of Francis St. Pharmacy, as well as an account manager for Sears Corporation, and Omni International. Henry enjoyed working hard and building relationships wherever he went. His sales secret was to sell a solution that the person needed, and he always valued the relationship rather than the sale. Henry spent all of his free time with his friends and family. Whether it was teaching his children how to build a home, woodworking skills, coaching them in baseball and basketball, running a produce stand, growing roses in his backyard, or hunting and fishing in the mountains- Henry loved to be with his boys. In his last years, his grandchildren were the stars in his universe. Henry spent lots of time teaching Wrangler how to garden, how to hit a baseball, or working on math, or counting in Spanish. Henry really loved holding his newest grandchild Finn or ""Smiley"" as he always called him. Henry is survived by wife, Barbara, his two sons, Jon and his wife Lindsay, and Scott ""Bud"". Henry has two grandchildren: Wrangler and Finn by Jon and Lindsay Esquibel. Henry is survived by his siblings; Herman, Priscilla and Anna Mae, as well as 24 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cipriano and Isabel, as well as his siblings Cip, Adela, Odelia, and Jose. Flowers may be sent directly to Horan & McConaty in Arvada. A Memorial fund will be established in Henry's name for his two grandchildren's college funds at CollegeInvest.com. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 beginning at 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. Immediately following the Celebration of Life a reception will be held at Bud's house. Please share your memories of Henry and condolences with his family by signing the guest book below.
