George Uyeno

George Uyeno passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in Denver, Colorado, on January 28, 2017. He was born in Hollister, California, on December 19, 1920, to Jiro and Yone Uyeno. He was a veteran who served in the US Army during World War II and was a longtime resident of Denver, where he owned and operated Roy's System Shoe Repair before his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. For over 25 years, he enjoyed volunteering at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, teaching kids to fish. George was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Uyeno. He is survived by his wife, Dora Sugioka Uyeno, three sisters, Fumi Urabe, Mabel Inouye, and Dorothy Takatsuno, and many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in Los Angeles, California. A memorial service will be held on March 4, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at the University Park United Methodist Church, Denver, Colorado.
