Gary W. Hammond passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Gary was born June 1, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas to Don and Jane Hammond, the eldest of three boys. He was a 1968 graduate of Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas. After a short stint in the Russell, Kansas planning department. For fun and bragging rights, he kept track of the mileage he had accumulated over 33 years, amassing more than 27,000 miles. Gary was fascinated with aviation, especially World War II era airplanes. He never missed an opportunity to attend an air show or museum. He shared his love of aviation with his family and friends.
