Gary was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He attended John F. Kennedy high school and was awarded a Boettcher Scholarship. He graduated from Colorado College in 1974 with honors, and while there was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He then began his career in computer science. After working for Mountain Bell and Coopers & Lybrand, he relocated to Oracle Corporation, where he remained for 26 years. He was a man of many passions who loved learning. An Eagle Scout himself, he remained an active member of scouting, including but not limited to Assistant Scout Master, Order of the Arrow Brotherhood, and CPR instructor. More than anything, however, he enjoyed leading groups on backpacking trips at Philmont Scout Ranch. As a man who believed strongly in giving back to the community, he was a volunteer firefighter for the Westminster Fire Department and a member of the Winter Park auxiliary ski patrol. Gary was also an avid racer, with a particular love for Porsches. He spent many weekends at the race track with Rocky Mountain Porsche Club and Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing. Gary is survived by his wife Luann, daughter Brigid, and son Ryan. Preceding him in death were his parents Norman Dodge and Colleen Carlin Dodge. Memorials may be made in Gary's name to Philmont Scout Ranch, 17 Deer Run Road, Cimarron, New Mexico 87714, www.philmontscountranch.org or to Winter Park Volunteer Ski Patrol Education Fund, 9081 Sunset Ridge Court, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126.
