Fred Exline

July 22, 1941 — March 24, 2017

Fred Exline passed away peacefully on March 24, 2017. He was born in Pueblo, CO. and grew up in Salina, KS. He attended Kansas University where he earned his BA and Masters degrees. He proudly played football for his beloved KU Jayhawks. He did extensive traveling for Berry World Tours, then sales manager at the Westin Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City, MO. After moving to Denver, Fred continued his career in the hospitality business with Denver area hotels. He also worked for Radar Railcar Mfg. in Ft. Lupton, CO. He always had a passion for trains and railroading as did his father. Fred is survived by his sister, Nancy Barclay (Sterling) of Breckenridge, CO., nephews Ryan Barclay (Holly) and their children Blake and Luca of Steamboat Springs, CO., Drew Barclay of Rapid City, SD., and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Mildred Mowery Exline. Fred was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and KU Alumni Association in Lawrence, KS. and a member of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. Fred's kindness to others and devotion to the Kansas Jayhawks will be sorely missed. He was a stranger to no one and a devoted friend to all. Fred was especially blessed by an amazingly wide network of very close friends across the country who became his family. Special gratitude goes to the wonderful caregivers, staff and Hospice at Englewood Meridian. Memorial donations can be made to Williams Educational Fund in Lawrence, KS or KU Alumni Association. There will be an informal celebration of Fred at Englewood Meridian, 3455 S. Corona, Englewood, CO., 80113 on April 21 at 10AM and a memorial service at The First Presbyterian Church in Salina, KS. 67401 on May 6 at 10:30 AM.
