Douglas Hackett

Douglas Hackett, 70 of Firestone, Colorado, succumbed to cancer (Mesothelioma) at his home surrounded by his family on October 17, 2014. Born in New Haven, Connecticut to Sherman & Donn Hackett, he lived most of his life in Denver Colorado. Doug married the love of his life Phyllis, in 1961 in Denver, Colorado. They were happily married for 53 years. Doug was extremely loving and proud of his three daughters, Robin Hackett, Cheri Hackett-Smith, and Pamela Hackett, as well as his 5 granddaughters Amanda Brodbeck, Brittany Brodbeck, Danielle Hackett, Chantelle Hackett-Smith, Kayli Schild and his son in law Jeff Smith. Douglas is preceded in death by his daughter Pamela, and his parents Sherman and Donn Hackett. Doug was an accomplished business owner, starting 3 structural steel businesses, Denver Deck, Hackett Deck, Hackett Associates, and a storage business, A Toy Box Storage. He loved spending time on his house boat at Lake Powell. He spent his retirement walking and fishing with his lifelong friend Dave Honstein. Doug will be remembered as an honest, hardworking man loved by all that knew him. A service will be held on Oct 27th 2014 @ Balistreri Vineyard 1946 E. 66th Ave, Denver, Co 80229 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. www.balistrerivineyards.com
