Dorothy Carver

Dorothy Mae Stern was born on October 8, 1923 to Jeanette Boggs Stern and Arthur Edward Stern in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. She was the fifth child of seven born to Jeanette. She loved her family and they were very close. She graduated from Pleasant Dale school. She met and married our father, Lohren Matthew Thompson. They wed in Marysville, Kansas on July 2, 1945. Her son, Terrance Michael Thompson was born in North Platte, Nebraska on April 14th, 1947. Her daughter, Sheila Marie Thompson was born in Sutherland, Nebraska on November 27, 1950. She lived in various towns in Nebraska until Lohren was transferred with Frontier Oil to Provo, Utah in 1956. Dorothy worked at KOVO Radio station there, a job she thoroughly loved. She did commercials and on-air characters. In 1959 we moved to Thornton, Colorado. She went to work at Faris Moritz Machinery in the office. She divorced Lohren in February of 1960. She worshipped her children and spent tireless days helping with homework and art projects. She was Terry’s Cub Scout Den Mother. She played cars with him on the floor, did puzzles and helped Terry practice his baseball pitching as well as taught him how to bowl. She had tea parties, played dolls and colored with Sheila, as well as taught her how to cook and clean and do laundry. On May 28, 1961, she married Kenneth Sterrett Carver. The family lived in Arvada. Dorothy patiently cared for Kenny until his untimely death October 21, 1982. Preceded in death are her former husband, Lohren M. Thompson, and husband, Kenneth S. Carver, her parents, Jeanette Boggs Stern, and Arthur Edward Stern, her Siblings, Violet Graff (Floyd), Raymond Stern (Dorothy), Bernard Stern (Alma), Letty Mundt (Harold), Lyle Stern (Iona), and Bonnie Bargman (Elmer), her Son-in-law, Charles Alex Ingram, and her grandson, Travis Michael Thompson. Surviving Relatives, her Son, Terry Thompson (Janice), her daughter, Sheila Johnson (Pat), her grandchildren, Melissa Hourgian (Tim), Bryan Johnson (Kathie Wise), Scott Ingram (Cassi), seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. And a multitude of nieces and nephews. Dorothy was the last surviving sibling in her family. She lived to be 93 years, 283 days! She lived the past several years with her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Pat. She died in her room with her family surrounding her. She has crossed the Valley into our Heavenly Fathers’ realm where she is once again surrounded by her family in Heaven. She will forever be loved and cherished and never forgotten.
