McCartee, Delmar, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Genola McCartee. He is survived by his two children Delma Aldrich and Jack McCartee; and his three grandchildren Benjamin McCartee, Justin Aldrich his wife Hannah, and Stephanie Aldrich her fiancée Rik. Also, in September 2015 he would have welcomed two great grandchildren; one from Justin and one from Stephanie. Delmar served 25 years in the United States military. He served 3 years with United States Navy during World War II and 22 years with United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam. He retired as Master Sergeant (Msgt.). In personal life, he avid fisherman and just absolutely loved the outdoors. His house, indoors and outdoors, was always filled with beautiful flowers. Delmar's other passion was canning. He loved canning pickles, jams and other vegetables. Delmar was also very active with the Good Sam's club, always attending the various camping trips. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are sent in his honor to Puppies Behind Bars. His memorial service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:00am at Horan and McConaty in Aurora, CO, followed by an internment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 12:00pm. The family will be hosting a reception at his home in Aurora at 1:00pm following both services.
