Darin Oottamasathien

Darin Oottamasathien was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She attended Thornton High School as part of their accelerated International Baccalaureate (IB) program. She continued her education at the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with a BS in Biochemistry. She always had a passion for the biological sciences and research. Darin later worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Tarrytown, NY. There, her work focused on the development of novel therapeutics to treat a multitude of inflammatory disorders. After a few years, her love for the Rocky Mountains brought her back to Denver and she continued to pursue her research passion by working at Corgenix Medical Corporation, located in Broomfield, CO. Her gifted mind and research led to significant instrumental contributions while at Corgenix, with recent advancements culminating in the development of the first ever rapid test kit for the Ebola virus. This kit has now been accepted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. Darin was an avid reader and enjoyed camping, along with being a fan of her beloved pro football team the Denver Broncos. She had a tremendous love for animals, especially the dogs in her life including Goku, Boxie, Bowser, and Cookie. Her dogs were ultimately her children and she loved them unconditionally. Darin, 33, passed away February 19, 2015 and is survived by her mother, Sommith; father, Sarin; brother, Siam; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Thailand. Her family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 10 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant St, Thornton, CO.
