Buzz Winterbottom

Eugene ""Buzz"" Michael Winterbottom, 66, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away December 2, 2015. He was born in Darby, Pennsylvania on May 6, 1949, to Gilbert and Catherine Howard Winterbottom. Buzz graduated from Ridley High School in 1968 and was drafted into the US Army. He began his two year service on February 14, 1969 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. After receiving his honorable discharge, Buzz worked miscellaneous jobs including the shipyard, at a reupholstery store and at Peps restaurant. Buzz began to work for United Airlines at the Philadelphia Airport in April of 1979. He was furloughed and transferred to Denver in 1985. He retired from United Airlines in September of 2004. He then worked at Douglas County Schools until 2006. Buzz is survived by his wife, Mary Winterbottom; sister, Jennifer Leighten, Cliston Heights, PA; four children: Jimmy (Jessica) Winterbottom, of Grand Rapids, MI; Eric and Tymber Winterbottom, of Lakewood, CO; Cara Winterbottom, of Aurora, CO; Kenneth (Jennifer) Winterbottom, of Aurora, CO; Ten grandchildren: Matthew and Conner Winterbottom, of Arvada, CO; Elizabeth Winterbottom, of Grand Rapids, MI; Payten Winterbottom, of Littleton, CO; Ashlyn Jenkins, of Frisco, TX; Michaela Leighty, of Aurora, CO; Deserai Murphy, of Aurora, CO; Melonie Winterbottom, of Longmont, CO; Isabella Winterbottom, of Aurora, CO; and Sienna Cothran, of Aurora, CO. The Funeral service for Buzz was held on December 5, 2015 at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO., followed by a reception at The Summit Event Center in Aurora. Friends and family are invited to attend the Military Service for Buzz on Friday, May 6, 2016, 11:00 am, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO. in Area 'A'. Please gather in Staging Area 'A' at 10:45 am.
