Bruce Allen

October 20, 1958 — January 23, 2015

Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend was called to heaven on January 23, 2015. Bruce Kevin Allen was born October 20th, 1958 in Sweetwater, Texas. He graduated from Sweetwater High school in 1977, and then went off to college in San Marcos at Southwest Texas State. After two years he moved to Austin and graduated from the University of Texas in 1982 with a bachelors degree in business administration. This began a life-long love and passion for his alma mater. ""Hook em Horns!"" He chose a career in banking. It was during the start of his career that he met and fell in love with his wife Tracy. Banking took Bruce and his family from Texas, to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and on to Arvada, Colorado in 2001. Bruce had a passion for many things. First and foremost, his family was his number one focus. Nothing pleased him more then being a father to his sons Colby and Caleb. He shared his love of sports with his sons who pursued soccer, basketball and football. Bruce was highly known for his cooking! Everyone had a favorite dish he made…his green chili, spaghetti, jerky, fried chicken and so much more! He spent time in his garden (an expert composter… and yes – this includes a vast knowledge of worms!). He grew prize tomatoes and all the other ingredients to all his wonderful dishes. He had a love of running, biking and other outdoor activities. Even though his heart kept a deep love of Texas, Bruce loved Colorado and vowed never to leave it. Bruce had a charitable heart and volunteered his time with the Young Executives and Children's Miracle Network, as well as donating to the Arvada Food Bank. For all the stories that can be told and the memories we will treasure, Bruce will always be remembered as a soft-spoken, Southern gentleman with a great sense of humor. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Tracy; two sons Colby and Caleb; His father, Rusty; brother, Don (Holly); mother in law, Ann; sister in law, Pam; various nieces and nephews. His mother Marguerite precedes him in death. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce's honor to: American Liver Foundation 2100 South Corona Street Denver, Colorado 80210 or The Arvada Community Food Bank 8555 West 57th Avenue Arvada, Colorado 80002 A Memorial Service honoring Bruce will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00 am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.
