Brian Pias

November 9, 1946 — September 20, 2016

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away September 20, 2016, from cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Brian's life started in Kenosha Wisconsin. Son to Eugene and Margaret Pias and brother of Dr. Michael Pias, Brian attained his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Wisconsin. Brian enlisted in the Army Corp of Engineers as a Combat Engineer. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1970 and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, among many other combat medals. Following his tour in Vietnam, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska. While in Nebraska, Brian met the love of his life and true friend, Ruth Billeter. Brian and Ruth Pias were inseparable for 42 wonderful years. Brian's life was as colorful as the paint-splotched, neon hat he wore while cutting the grass. He was an upbeat, funny, and very successful family man. He loved the Packers and, eventually, the Broncos and Rockies. As a coach, Brian coached everything imaginable. He even coached soccer, which he had never played, and would spend hours reading and developing practices that had the kids constantly moving and never standing around--he was very efficient! Nothing made Brian happier than the time he spent with his sons, Jason and Jared; Jason's wife, Kristin; and Jared's girlfriend, Francesca. They enjoyed laughs, sporting events, and an occasional craft beer. They were the light of his life. As a grandfather, he loved playing games, taking care of the grandchildren, and perfecting his lion R-O-O-A-R for his grandson! The majority of his career was spent with Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin in Colorado. While at Lockheed Martin he worked on various nationally known aerospace projects, such as the Titan project and portions of space shuttles that all eventually made their way into space. Despite Brian's many surgeries and treatments during his fight with cancer, he never complained. He always had time to thank the doctors and nurses and never lost his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 6835 South Prince Street, Littleton, Colorado. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
