Barbara Avery

Barbara Louise Avery passed away peacefully on November 18, 2016 in Denver, CO. Barbie was born in Morris, MN in 1934. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of MN before extensively traveling around Europe and beyond. She settled in Grand Rapids, MI in the 60's and lived in Michigan until 2014. She loved polka and square dancing, volunteering at Ascension Lutheran Church and her work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. She really enjoyed helping people and was always very active. She loved to travel more than almost anything. Barbara is survived by her daughter Kristina (Knute) Nelson, granddaughter Hana, Brother John (Gayle) Brunkow, nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
