Alice Millet Bakemeier, 93, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2017, in Denver. Born to Edward Joslin and Lillian Williamson Kingsbury of Kenne, NH, she graduated from the Madeira School, Smith College where she was president of the Flying Club and Columbia College of Nursing. She moved to Denver as a young nurse in 1948 and worked at Children's Hospital. She later earned a master's degree from the University of Colorado and worked as a nurse practitioner for Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood and Denver Hospice. She served as editor of the Diabetes Educator. Keenly interested in local history, she wrote three books about Denver neighborhoods, their architects and residents: Hilltop Heritage (1997), Country Club Heritage (2000), and Crestmoor Park Heritage (2005). The Colorado State Historical Society recognized her in 2007 for contributions to local history. Alice is survived by daughters Katherine Millet, Elizabeth Cochran, and Margaret Zemach, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four stepchildren. She was preceded in death by three loving husbands, William D Millet, M.D., 1949-1970, John B. Holyoke, M.D., 1975-1981 Richard F. Bakemeier, M.D., 1984-2017 & her son, William D Millet, Jr.. Services will be held Nov. 11 at 11 am at St. Andrew's Church, 2015 Glenarm Pl. Denver.
